1.                  What do  Luke 21:37-38 and 19:47-48 tell us about the role the temple played in the final week of the ministry of Jesus?

 

2.                  How does Mark 11:11 attach his triumphal entry into the city with his interest in the temple?

 

3.                  We will investigate his connection with the temple by considering him in relationship to it or to various people there. 

 

4.                  Matthew 21:12-13.  In what relationship did Jesus stand with the temple itself?  Notice the verbs here.  What did this action mean?

 

5.                  Matthew 21:14-15.  What was the connection between Jesus, the temple, the lame and blind, and the children?  What was this meant to express?

 

6.                  Matthew 21:15-16, 23-27.  What was the relationship that developed between Jesus, the temple, and the chief priests and elders of the people?  Why did Jesus not simply withdraw?

 

7.                  Mark 12:35-37.  What was the relationship between Jesus, the temple, and the Old Testament scriptures?

 

8.                  Mark 12:41-44.  What does this scene tell us about the relationship between Jesus, the temple, the hearts of people, and the service God wants from us?

 

9.                  Luke 21:5-6.  What was the difference between Jesus’ attitude toward the temple and thinking of the others toward it?

 

10.              Luke 19:41-44.  What had been the attitude of Jesus when he drew near to enter the city at the beginning of that week?

 

11.              Matthew 23:37-24:1.  What was the feeling and thinking of Jesus as he left the temple when he last taught there?

 

12.              What did it mean when Jesus said, “See, your house is left to you desolate” (Matt. 23:38)?
